Trying to find an Amiga 1200 for sale can be quite a challenge these days due to it being, like with all the other Amiga computers, desirable collector items.
The Amiga 1200 in particular though has always been an attractive system for Amiga enthusiasts due to its expandability, meaning it can be beefed up in terms of performance, whether you are looking at original expansion cards, or more modern enhancements, the Amiga 1200 is one of the premier Amiga systems to own.
How Much Is An Amiga 1200 Worth Today?
Do you REALLY want to know how much an Amiga 1200 is worth?! Now, don’t be alarmed when I tell you that you can pay up to four-figure sums for a ‘new, old stock’ Amiga 1200, but fortunately, the average price for an Amiga 1200 in good condition with a bunch of peripherals and software tends to be around £300 – £400.
Boxed Amiga 1200s or systems with the original manuals and peripherals go for a bit more, usually around the £400 – £450 mark. You will be lucky to find an Amiga 1200 in good condition going for under £200 now in the UK, especially on eBay, unless it is advertised as spares & repair.
The best value for money Amiga 1200 you can currently buy will be an Amiga 1200 with memory expansion (usually around 4MB) and a CF Card hard drive. You usually find that these come installed with a huge collection of Amiga games ready to play. Since the floppy disk drives and disk games can be a bit unreliable now.
Amiga 1200s with the memory expansion and CF Card installed tend to sell for around £350 – £450, depending upon if it’s boxed and what extras are included, etc.
But it’s a bit of a minefield these days, the Amiga is a highly collectable system so there are a lot of sellers looking to make a quick profit from these classic systems.
My advice – Go for it, but don’t rush into a purchase, take your time and do your research.
LAST MINUTE TIP – If the system you have purchased has not recently been recapped (by this, I mean the capacitors on the board replaced), then it is recommended you do so as leaking capacitors often means BIG trouble for your precious Amiga!
Amiga 1200 On eBay
The first place to look for an Amiga 1200 for sale will almost certainly be eBay. Sure, things tend to be priced slightly higher here, but you will almost certainly always find one available. Click the button to search eBay for Amiga 1200 prices.
Amiga 1200 On Gumtree
Gumtree is a free-to-list marketplace service available in many countries including the UK, Australia & Poland. You are more likely to find a bargain Amiga 1200 on a site like Gumtree as you do not tend to get collectors reselling Amiga’s as you would on eBay.
Amiga 1200 On Shpock
Like Gumtree, Shpock is another online marketplace where private sellers list mostly second-hand/used goods. This is another untapped resource for Amiga’s, although you will not find a huge amount of Amiga’s here, but it’s still worth adding to your list when searching for an Amiga 1200 for sale.
Amiga 1200 Upgrades
Upgrades and mods for the Amiga 1200 are best found either on eBay or directly with sellers who specialise in Amiga 1200 products of this nature. We recommend AmigaKit’s store on eBay, check out some of their listings via the link below:-
